Country Kitchen Table Re-do

Hello All!

I have so many projects over the last few months to tell you about. I am going to start with my favorite though. We use to have  round wrought iron table, glass top table in our kitchen. It was not doing the job! I had grand plans of homework stations, everyone piled around the table. This could definitely not be done at our small table, not to mention that round table are so hard because they had to sit in the center of your room, taking up space.

Insert those great Facebook Yard Sale sites. I found the perfect sized table for $100. It came with two chairs and a bench. Gasp! I LOVE benches!! The only problem was, it did not fit my taste at all in the looks department! It is a light oak all wood table

USUALLY I WOULD INSERT BEFORE PIC HERE: I am so sad I do not have one! In my excitement to do this, I completely forgot rule #1. LOTS OF PICTURES!

I added a light mahogany stain over the top my husband had sanded. It turned out exactly as I wanted it!

I then finished the top with a light poly spray.

The Hubs had never done anything with the chairs, bench or table legs. I didn't have the want to sand them..GASP I know! I bought about 10 cans of white spray paints and applies about 3-4 coats of spray to these. They looks great! I am sure I will have to touch up these probably once yearly, but I am okay with this as they look great!

Tea Party

Every year my great friend and fellow girls scout leader Michelle and I host a Tea Party for our girl scout troop. We are coming up on our third year! We get more creative every year, and are already planning some new a wonderful things.

We wanted to do something special for our girls and a special lady in their life. This is their mom, aunt, grandma or sister. We started off buying lots and lots of tea cups and saucers from The Goodwill. Everything is mismatched, which actually looks really nice. I want to share with you a few ideas that we have done over the years.

Every year our girls make something to wear on their head. Two years ago they decorated Easter hats with silk flowers, last year we decorated headbands with flowers. (I am bummed I don't have any pictures of this, I will have to dig them up and post!)

Did I mention Michelle's mother-in-law lives in an amazing old schoolhouse and graciously lets us host the tea party there every year!?!

Teachers gifts!

Who loves Pinterest!! This mommy does. This year we decided to make gifts for the girls kindergarten and preschool teachers and their bus driver.

Sorry about the lack of pictures for this one. Here is what I purchased:

5- 97 cent water bottles from Walmart.

2- boxes crystal light lemonade drink mix, the individual size packets
